Baseline Screening Test

To observe employees hearing over time, a Baseline Screening Test is performed to obtain a comparison figure.

The employee's future annual hearing tests will be compared to their baseline, to detect if there has been a threshold shift, or a worsening of the employee's hearing.

The purpose of the annual hearing screening is to determine if the employee's hearing protection is effective.

Any shift will result in an audiogram review by an audiologist to determine if the shift is temporary or "permanent," and whether any follow-up is necessary.
