Blood Work
There are many types of blood work tests that may be performed. The most common are outlined below.
Cholesterol Tests
Triglycerides
Triglycerides are a type of fat that is found in the blood. High levels typically mean that you're consuming more calories than your body is burning. Elevated levels can lead to an increased risk of heart disease.
Glucose Tests
Glucose is necessary for growth and development of the body. Levels outside of the normal range typically indicate an abnormal condition. A doctor can help you understand what it takes to maintain a healthy glucose level.
C-Reactive Protein Tests
C-reactive protein (CRP) is produced by your liver as a response to injury or infection. This can be a sign of inflammation in the body. This inflammation can clog your arteries through atherosclerosis. The CRP is used in conjunction with other tests to determine you general heart health. The American Heart Association recommends CRP screening for those with elevated risk of heart disease.
