Our referral services can help you find an experienced physician who will also meet your individual needs. A referral specialist will answer your call, and with the help of a computerized database of information, help you find just the right physician.

The more aware you are of what you're looking for in a physician, the more likely you'll find one with whom you can be happy. To get the most help from the referral specialist, here are some basic things you should consider.

Insurance
More and more health plans require that you select one physician from their network to serve as your primary care physician. He or she will provide the majority of your healthcare services. Having a primary care physician assures that all your medical records are in one place, that your medical treatment enjoys continuity, and if you need a specialist, you have a physician who can refer you to just the right expert.

Make sure the physician you select is available under your health plan. Our computer database lists several insurances in which each physician's office participates. Your insurance company also produces a directory listing participating physicians. You may also contact your insurance company customer service representative directly to verify the physician participation as well as your medical plan benefits.

Do you need a physician who is close to your home, office or bus route?

Are you more comfortable with someone who is younger or older? A male or female physician?

Office Hours
Would it be more convenient if your physician offered evening or weekend hours?

Special Training
Find out if the physician has training for your special medical problems.

Other Issues
Does the physician or staff speak your language? How long does it take to get an appointment? Who covers call? Who will answer if you call at night? Does the office have an advice nurse? Does the office have weekend and/or night hours?
