Hospice Education Opportunities - Adventist Medical Center

Adventist Health/Hospice provides in-services free of charge to the community. These in-services generally range from 30 minutes to several hours. Each is taught by exceptionally well-trained hospice nurses and staff from Adventist Health/Hospice.

Our in-services include the following:

Caring for the you, the caregiver
Coping with loss around the holidays
How to help loved ones cope with loss
Hospice 101 �Care at the end of life�
Identifying hospice appropriateness
Pain management
Psychological aspect of care for the terminally ill
Recognizing and assisting with bereavement needs of staff members
Social services
Spiritual services support
Wound management

Grief Support Group
Living with grief can be intensely challenging. Coping with the loss of a loved one in addition to life�s daily stresses may feel overwhelming. Research indicates that participating in a support group can improve ones mood and reduce depression.

Healing Grief
Coping with loss can be unbearably difficult. You don't have to do it alone. Join with others who are learning to cope and are growing through their pain in this class. For more information, click here and choose Healing Grief under Finding Support.

Adventist Medical Center has a long standing commitment to supporting the whole person � body mind and spirit. We offer free support groups to people who are grieving the loss of their loved ones. Information and experiences are shared in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust.

Participation is completely voluntary. Group members are invited but never required to share. Often, those who come benefit from listening to the experiences of others. Whether you come only once, or every time, you are always welcome.

Our Grief Support Group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:00 to 11:30 am. This support group is open to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. Contact Debra at 503-251-6192 ext. 5670.
