Triage
Our Emergency Department is organized and staffed to take care of all your
emergent medical needs. First, a patient care greeter will ask you to fill out a
short questionnaire asking what your symptoms are and what other medical
problems you have. Patients are seen according to the severity of their problem not in the
order they arrive. This is why some patients who arrive after you may be
treated before you are.
The Emergency Department often has to see many patients
who arrive at once. Many critically ill patients may also be arriving by
ambulance through another entrance. We are committed to seeing and treating
every patient as promptly as we can.
You will be evaluated by an experienced triage nurse who will briefly ask
questions about your medical history and conduct a brief examination to
determine the severity of your condition. At this
point your medical treatment begins. The triage nurse may order lab tests or
x-rays that have been pre-approved by physician guidelines in order to speed up
your care.
A registration clerk will obtain information for our records including a
consent form to provide your medical care.
